Police have registered a case against the owner of a café in Ravet for allegedly operating without a valid licence and providing secluded rooms for “obscene activities,” officials said on Tuesday.
The action was taken by a team from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) during a Monday evening raid at the café located in the Blooming Dale Apartment area of Ravet.
The accused, identified as Kailas Kisan Kashid (24), a resident of Shivshambho Housing Society in Ravet, is the café owner, police said.
Officials said the café was allegedly being run without mandatory permissions. During the raid, police found wooden partitions and dark rooms created on the upper floor using plywood and curtains, allegedly used as private spaces for young couples.
Based on a complaint filed by ATS constable Ashok Balasaheb Waghmare, a case has been registered at Ravet police station under Sections 129 and 131(A)(A) of the Maharashtra Police Act. Investigation is underway.
