Pune: NCP (Sharad Pawar) MLA Rohit Pawar held a meeting with industrialists and representatives of industry associations in Chakan on Friday to discuss the various challenges faced by companies in the industrial area, including poor infrastructure and civic issues.
Pawar assured them that he would take up the issue with the state government and push for necessary measures to address the problems.
The meeting was organised against the backdrop of growing concerns among industries in the Chakan MIDC area over inadequate roads, electricity and water supply, waste management and persistent traffic congestion. Industry representatives said the deteriorating infrastructure was affecting business operations and had raised concerns over the possibility of companies shifting out of the industrial area.
Pawar said the problems faced by industrialists were not limited to their businesses, but also affected thousands of workers and their families as well as the overall development of the region. He said it was necessary to understand the problems faced by industries and strengthen the industrial ecosystem in Chakan to prevent companies from relocating.
“Industrialists in Chakan MIDC contribute thousands of crores of rupees to the government treasury through taxes, but are suffering because of inadequate roads, electricity and water supply, waste management issues and traffic congestion,” Pawar said.

{{/usCountry}}“Former deputy chief minister late Ajit Pawar would regularly take cognisance of the problems faced by these industrialists and make efforts to resolve them. However, the situation has completely changed today,” he said.
“The government needed to urgently address the concerns of industrialists who were generating thousands of jobs in the region,” he said.
