Students’ agitation demanding a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the conduction of the recruitment test in Jharkhand continued for the 19th day on Wednesday amid administrative efforts to end the statement.
Spokesperson of the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch, Piyush Kumar Singh informed Hindustan Times that the agitation will continue until their demands are fulfilled.
“In the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manju Nath Bhajantri accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Ranjan and a large police force, came to Jaipal Singh Stadium intending to convince us to end the strike but they returned after some time. When serious note was taken of this, he again called us in the afternoon and clarified that his intention was not to convince anyone to end the strike but his visit was a part of law and order duty. Students have decided to continue their agitation,” Singh said.
Asked about the condition of those on a hunger strike, a police official said: “Three including Habiba, Rahul, Devendra and Virendra were admitted to Sadar Hospital after their health condition deteriorated. Two, including Rupesh and Savita are still at the stadium.”
Ranchi DC Manjunath Bhajanti echoed Singh. “We had gone to meet students to find out a practical implementable solution. Apart from this, we were also concerned about their fasting,” Bhajantri said.

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile a teacher supporting the agitation, Kunal Kumar Singh, said any administrative step to weaken the students’ agitation will be taken otherwise.
“So far we have not found the administration creating hurdles in our agitation but the way I found some of the administrative officials asking students whether they were CGL candidates or JPSC candidates suggested that they want to divide students to weaken the agitation. I have also anticipate being arrested. If any of these things happen, the agitation will take a serious turn. A campaign to fill the jails will be launched,” Singh told a section of reporters at Jaipal Singh Stadium after the return of the DC and SSP.
SSP Rakesh Ranjan and SP (City) Paras Rana could not be contacted for their comments despite several attempts.
