Saturday’s defeat to Chennai Super Kings has pushed the Royal Challengers Bangalore on the brink of exit. With the gap between the fourth placed team and RCB now four points, they will need to collect full points from their remaining five games and expect other results go their way to make it to the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) play-offs.

Skipper Virat Kohli must be feeling the heat for his team’s poor show. Parthiv Patel, whose half-century was the only bright spot in RCB’s batting against CSK, backed his skipper and expressed hope of his side making it count in the rest of the tournament.

“Virat has been excellent captain and there is no doubt about it. I have been a part of lot of IPL and I have seen three-four turnarounds in those 10 years and I do not see any reason as to why we can turn it around. We have the players in the dressing room and the support staff, who makes sure that we are in the right frame of mind,” said Patel.
