IPL 2019: Dinesh Karthik relives his knock in the Nidahas final, reveals why crowd was supporting India

March 18, 2018. India were taking on Bangladesh in the final clash of the Nidahas Trophy. The surface was sluggish, India were on the mat while chasing 167 for victory against Bangladesh in the final and at one stage were tottering at 133 for 5 in the 18th over.

In walked Dinesh Karthik with his side needing 34 runs in two overs. He drove, slogged, swept and caressed boundaries as he walked out with the trophy in India’s cabinet. He now relives the day in a video posted on the Facebook page of Kolkata Knight Riders.

“For us to win a match like that, from a situation that looked rather bleak was obviously special. A lot of young guys were playing and hence, it was special for the team,” Karthik says in the video.

29 runs in 8 balls, and a six off the final ball to seal the deal for his side.

“Really happy to come out of this performance. Really happy for the team. We’ve played really well in this tournament and to not win the final would have been unfortunate. It was not that easy to bat there,” Karthik said after the match.
