    DC win by 8 wickets

Shreyas Iyer finishes it off with a six. DC have won by 8 wickets to reclaim the top spot in IPL 2021 points table. It has been a complete performance from DC. First it was their bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje who never allowed the SRH batsmen to get into any sort of them and then it was their strong Indian batters in Shikhar Dhawan (42), Shreyas Iyer (47) and Rishabh Pant (35*), who took charge to take them to an easy win with 13 balls to spare.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 10:53:22 PM IST

    Pant seals the deal… Almost

FOUR! Slower delivery from Khaleel and Pant's just rolls his wrists over it to get it fine enough to beat the square leg fielder for a four.

SIX! A much powerful shot than the previous one and the result is there for everyone to see. Khaleel once again pitches it halfway down the middle and Pant pulls it for another six.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 10:45:24 PM IST

    Pant smokes it

SIX! That was smashed. Bhuvneshwar Kumar missed his length. And at his pace, it was always going to easy pickings for Pant and to his credit, he got the perfect connection to that pull shot.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 10:39:46 PM IST

Where is the bat? Where is the ball?

You can perhaps these things only when Rishbah Pant is on strike. He swings himself off his feet and this time, he lost his bat. Williamson handed it over with a big smile. All for a dot ball.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 10:33:49 PM IST

    Consecutive fours for Iyer

Action replays. Shreyas Iyer is taking advantage of the lack of pace in Sandeep Sharma's bowling. On both occasions, Iyer found the gap between the long on and the mid wicket fielder.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 10:24:10 PM IST

    Pant off the mark

FOUR! He missed his first heave alright but wasn't going to miss the second time around. This was in Pant's slot and he just smashes it back past the bowler to get off the mark with a boundary.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 10:19:32 PM IST

    Rashid Khan gets Dhawan

OUT! Rashid Khan provides the breakthrough for SRH. Dhawan, who was looking so good, is out for 42. He wanted to play the slog sweep shot again but this time around, he chose the longer half of the boundary and found the deep fielder. DC 72/2 after 10.5 overs

  • 22 Sept 2021, 10:16:09 PM IST

    Sharma to Dhawan: Four, Four

Brilliant from Dhawan. First he got Sharma off length by sweeping him and then just punched it over extra cover collect consecutive fours. SRH have got to break this stand if they want to make a comeback in this match.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 10:11:15 PM IST

    Shreyas Iyer is back

SIX! Beaten the previous ball, tonked for six in the next - a hallmark of a quality batsman and Shreyas Iyer is definitely one of them. What a superb shot from the right-hander. That would give Rashid Khan something to think about. DC 591 after 8.4 overs.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 10:02:26 PM IST

Sandeep Sharma finally gets the ball

8th over… That has to be the longest Sandeep Sharma has waited to get the ball in his hands. He has most of his success in the IPL right at the top with the new ball but Williamson, today, throughout otherwise, let's see how it pans out.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:59:38 PM IST

    Pulled away for four

FOUR! You can't ball short to Dhawan if you don't have the pace and the direction. Holder had neither and he was dully punished by Dhawan. He rocked back and pulled away for a boundary.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:54:44 PM IST

    Dhawan goes big

SIX! Dhawan is in some form today. It was pitched up Rashid Khan and Dhawan went down on one knee and hit the most delightful slog sweep to deposit it into the stands for a maximum. He is they key in this chase.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:52:25 PM IST

    Tidy over from Bhuvneshwar

Quality over from SRH's premier fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He used the cutters to good affect. Only two runs from this over. Have an eerie feeling that this won't be that easy a chase as it appears to be.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:46:29 PM IST

Cracker of a shot from Dhawan

FOUR! “He dismissed it from his presence,” said Sunil Gavaskar in the commentary box and he is spot on. That was hammered down the ground so hard by Dhawan that the ball might have left a trail on its path. DC 27/1 after 4 overs.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:40:43 PM IST

    Khaleel gets Shaw

OUT! Slower one does the trick for Khaleel Ahmed. Prithvi Shaw mistimes it and Williamson takes a good catch. Shaw was way early into that shot and got no connection on that. His only hope was if it had enough to beat Williamson but the SRH captain took a good running catch. Important wicket for SRH. DC 20/1

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:37:44 PM IST

    Shaw joins the party

FOUR! Prithvi Shaw is very good taking advantage of the field restrictions. His bat face closed while attempting that lofted shot but he got enough bat on it to take it over the infield.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:36:43 PM IST

Two fours in that Bhuvi over

Dhawan looks solid. Those two fours off Bhuvneshwar were a testimony to that fact. DC should have it easy if Shaw and Dhawan give them a good start. So far so good for DC. They are 12-0 after 2 overs.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:33:42 PM IST

    Bhuvneshwar to Dhawan: FOUR

First boundary of the innings. Bhuvneshwar bowls a half-volley on to Dhawan's legs and the left-hander whips it nonchalantly on the leg side. Sweet timing.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:29:49 PM IST

    Khaleel generating movement

Good start from left-arm quick Khaleel Ahmed. The ball jagged back sharply into Shikhar Dhawan and hit him on the gloves. None the less, the left-hander gets his first runs two balls later.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:27:47 PM IST

    DC are away

First ball of the innings and DC and Shaw are off the mark. Tucked away for a single and Shaw would be pleased to get his first run without wasting any time.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:23:31 PM IST

IPL 2021, Live Score: Pietersen says Bhuvneshwar has to strike early

And rightly so. SRH are without their death overs and yorker specialist T Natarajan, so all eyes would be on strike bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar to give them early wickets. And when you have Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw in front of you, that's all the motivation you need.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:13:00 PM IST

SRH end with 134 for 9

Two run outs to end the SRH innings, pretty much sums up their ordeal in this evening so far. Avesh Khan makes a good back and DC have done a commendable job to restrict SRH at 134 for 9 after they opted to bat first.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:11:39 PM IST

Couple of wides and a four

Not the best of starts to the last over for DC. Avesh Khan bowled a couple of wides and then got hit for a four by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. SRH need some sort of momentum going in the break.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:05:51 PM IST

    Rashid swinging hard

Six and then a four. Just what the doctor ordered for SRH. Rashid Khan has somehow managed to hit Rabada for 10 runs after he got the wicket of Samad. Last over to go. SRH need Rashid on strike.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 09:03:24 PM IST

    What a spell from Nortje

Full marks to Nortje maintaining his 145-plus almost throughout his spells. And the result? Four overs 2 for 13. It has been a masterclass of fast bowling from the big South African. SRH 11/6 after 18 overs.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:59:34 PM IST

    Six from Samad

There have been quite a few no balls from the DC bowlers today and every time SRH have taken full advantage. Samad this time gets hold of that one and deposits it deep into the long on fence.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:56:39 PM IST

    100 up for SRH

100 up for SRH in the 17th over. It has been a struggle but they finally manage to get there. Can Samad and Rashid provide the big finish in the last three overs?

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:52:44 PM IST

    Edged and four

FOUR! Sometimes Axar Patel's extra pace can go against him like it did on this occasion. Rashid got an outside edge and there was no stopping that one, it raced away to the third man boundary for a boundary, a much-needed one for SRH.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:48:16 PM IST

    Holder is out for 10

OUT! Holder now departs for 10. Axar Patel has his second of the night. Another soft dismissal. The big West Indian came down track wanted to hit it big but did not get the elevation. Prithvi Shaw makes no mistake this time SRH 90/6 after 15.1 overs

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:44:43 PM IST

    Holder strikes it well

EDGED AND SIX! That has travelled off the outside edge. Hyderabad will take it anyhow they come. Good-length ball around off, Holder looks to swing it away but it goes off the outside edge and it flies over third man for a biggie.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:35:14 PM IST

    Nortje strikes gain

OUT! Nortje can do no wrong today. Full and straight at pace and Kedar Jadhav plays all around it. It hits him right in front and the umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger. It was a bit of a surprise that Jadhav went for the review. Only an inside edge could have saved him as a batsman you know it whether you've a got a tickle or not. In this case, he didn't.  Jadhav is LBW for 3. SRH 74/5 after 13 overs.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:32:04 PM IST

    Ashwin bowls a tight over

Ashwin comes back with a much much better over. Only 5 runs from it after conceding 13 runs in the 5-ball over that he bowled previously.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:22:18 PM IST

    Rabada removes Pandey

OUT! Kagiso Rabada removes Manish Pandey for 17. SRH in real trouble now. He wanted to work that one away towards the onside but got a leading edge instead, it's kind of action replay of the left-hander Warner's dismissal but in this case the ball was not as. But Rabada won't complain. SRH 61/4 now.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:21:08 PM IST

    Axar gets Williamson

OUT! Williamson's luck runs out after being dropped twice. It was a very uncanny Williamson innings. He gave three chances in five balls and finally the last one was taken by Hetmyer at long off. Axar Patel gets his first wicket of the night. Williamson goes for 18 off 26. SRH 60/3 after 9.5 overs

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:17:18 PM IST

    DROPPED

Edged and not taken by Pant. Oh how costly will this turn out to be? Ashwin laded the perfect carrom ball which sort of swing away from Williamson, who got an outside but Pant failed to hold on to catch. Ashwin is not happy at all. SRH 58/2 after 9 overs.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:15:39 PM IST

Pandey makes full use of the free hit

FOUR! It has been a horrendous start for Ashwin so far. He was hit for a four by Williamson then he bowled a wide, followed by a no-ball. And Manish Pandey slapped the free hit for a boundary towards long on.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:13:49 PM IST

    Ashwin to complete the over

FOUR! That's some nifty wristwork from Williamson. He rocked back and just whipped it with his wrists to somehow put it past the mid wicket fielder and into the boundary.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:10:05 PM IST

    Stoinis is injured

Looks like Marcus Stoinis has pulled up a muscle just as he was about to load up to bowl the second ball of the 9th over. He has a chat with Pant and hands over the ball to the umpire, who signals for a strategic timeout. This is not looking for DC.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:07:51 PM IST

    Brilliant from Axar

Ideal situation for Axar Patel. This is where he is so good. Early wickets, means the batsmen can't take chances against him and even if they do, he can prize out their wicket. Manish was lucky, he got an inside on one occasion there, otherwise it could have been a stumping opportunity for Pant.  SRH 42/2 after 8 overs.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 08:05:01 PM IST

    Stoinis starts well

A good over from Marcus Stoinis, gives away only 7 runs in his first over. This is an interesting period of play as DC shouldn't let the game meander along and allow SRH to make a comeback here.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 07:59:12 PM IST

    End of powerplay

It is safe to say the Delhi Capitals would be the happier side at the end of the powerplay. Rabada and Nortje have removed the SRH openers early and have restricted them to 32 for 2 after 6 overs. Williamson and Manish Pandey have rebuilding to do.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 07:54:39 PM IST

    Rabada gets Saha

OUT! Rabada gets his revenge in the same over. Saha goes for 18. It was a fast bumper from Rabada. It climbed on Saha way quicker than he expected. His front press didn't help much either. He ended up top edging that one to Dhawan. SRH 29/2 after 5 overs

  • 22 Sept 2021, 07:52:03 PM IST

Saha hits first six of the match

SIX! Oh hello there. What a shot from Saha. Kagiso Rabada ran in with the expectations of giving the batters a workout like Rabada and Avesh did but he was greeted with a wonderful pickup shot from Saha that landed deep into the stands. SRH 29/1 after 4.1 overs

  • 22 Sept 2021, 07:48:12 PM IST

    Welcome Axar Patel

FOUR! Saha welcomes Axar Patel with a slog sweep. And it dances away into the fence. Just the opportunity Saha was looking for after hostile over from Nortje. Not sure it was the smartest of moves from Pant to get the spinner on so early.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 07:46:50 PM IST

     Nortje on the money

This is hostile stuff from Anrich Nortje. His pace is up. He is clocking it almost 150km/h and what's more crucial, he's getting the ball just to nip and shape off the surface. Williamson and Saha have just got to be careful not to let this DC line-up make multiple inroads.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 07:41:23 PM IST

    Cracked away by Saha

FOUR! Short and wide from Avesh Khan and Saha was perhaps waiting to open his arms and smash it past point for his boundary. A good confidence booster for the SRH opener. SRH 12/1 after 2 overs.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 07:36:38 PM IST

    DC lose a review

To the naked eye, it looked like Williamson got an inside edge on that one and yes, he did. A poor review from Pant and DC. It was pacey a fuller length delivery from Nortje, Williamson got an inside onto his pads, there were two noises but Pant went upstairs and DC lose a review.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 07:33:06 PM IST

    Warner out for a duck

OUT! Warner has been dismissed for a three-ball duck by Nortje. What a start by DC. SRH 0/1. Nortje has been on the money from ball 1. His pace was up and this time it just hurried onto Warner, gave the left-hander no time to play his stroke. All he could manage was a top edge to ring of fielders in the off-side.

  • 22 Sept 2021, 07:30:55 PM IST

    Ready for action

SRH openers David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha are in the middle. Warner is on strike, Nortje has the new ball for DC. Here we go

  • 22 Sept 2021, 07:25:25 PM IST
