IPL Auction Day 1 Highlights: Maheesh Theekshana was the first player up for grabs in Set 7, that was for capped spinners, of the IPL Mega Auction on Day 1 and the Sri Lanka spinner found a new home in the Rajasthan Royals. Rahul Chahar was up next and he went to ₹3.2 crore in Sunrisers Hyderabad. Adam Zampa was sold to SRH as well, for ₹2 crore. Wanindu Hasaranga was up next, sold to Rajasthan Royals for ₹5.25 crore.   IPL Auction LIVE: Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings bought the most number of players at the auction, roping in eight each, while Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians acquired least number of cricketers - three each. Punjab Kings, who had the largest purse heading into the auction, spent the most to buy eight players, spending INR 84.50 crore, while Mumbai Indians, who had among the least purse remaining, were cautious in spending just INR 18.40 crore.   IPL Auction LIVE: Records were broken, something that was expected. What was unexpected was the way they were broken. Shreyas Iyer was not favourite to become the new most expensive player in auction history. Two minutes later, Rishabh Pant looked set to be sold at a lower cost than Iyer, only for LSG to blast his price to INR 27 crore and beat DC's RTM card. The most surprising of them all, though, was Venkatesh Iyer being sold for a whopping INR 23.75 crore. He was not in the marquee set and yet, he is the third most expensive player of this auction.
