Senior Sri Lanka pacer and captain Lasith Malinga on Thursday said that he “might be” announcing his retirement ahead of the World Twenty20.

When asked if he might consider retiring from T20Is, Malinga said that recovering from injury at his age has become difficult and as such he does not want to prolong his stress.

“I am turning 33. Having played cricket for such a long time, you do have to reassess. I am enjoying the game and even the captaincy. However, you do think of such things at this stage,” he said.
Malinga played his first game on Thursday after a three-month injury lay-off. Previously, Malinga had announced his retirement from Tests in 2011.
