RCB vs CSK: MS Dhoni’s fitness a cause of concern for Chennai ahead of Bangalore clash

Chennai Super Kings are still fretting over the fitness of talismanic skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni ahead of their blockbuster Indian Premier League (IPL) contest against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Dhoni – struggling with back spasm - was rested for their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the first time he didn’t lead the yellow brigade since 2010. Suresh Raina was handed over the captaincy for the match, which CSK eventually lost by six wickets.

On the eve of the clash against RCB, CSK coach Stephen Fleming revealed that Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo will be assessed if they are match fit at the end of their training session. Meanwhile, CSK CEO said that team management will take a call before the match if Dhoni can return into the side or not.

Meanwhile, Fleming also said ahead of the clash that Dhoni’s absence had an impact on the team and captaincy, but his side did well in their last match.

“Whenever a great player who is in great form is not in your side, it does have an impact on your team as well as captaincy. You have to make adjustments. But it does not mean that we are not competitive. We still turned out a very good side in the last game and still got well beaten,” Fleming said.
