Sandeep Lamichhane, bought by Delhi Daredevils, becomes 1st Nepal cricketer in IPL

Nepali leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been selected to play from Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League. In the IPL auction 2018 under way in Bangalore, the 17-year-old was bought by DD at his base price of Rs 20 lakh. (LIVE UPDATES OF IPL AUCTION)

Lamichhane thus became the first Nepali player to enter the IPL. He will have Gautam Ghambhir along with Glenn Maxwell and Trent Boult as his teammates.

Sandeep Lamichhane came into limelight when he bagged five wickets, including a hat-trick against Ireland in ICC U-19 World Cup in 2016. He also got an opportunity to train at the Michael Clarke Academy run by the former Australian skipper.

A fan of Shane Warne, Lamichhane has played nine List A matches and taken 12 wickets , with a best of 3 for 48.
