India Test captain Virat Kohli hasn’t just kept his guns blazing on the field. In the recently released annual report of Twitter India, where they released the most influential tweets of the year, Kohli’s tweet in support of Anushka Sharma after she was trolled in social media for his T20 performances, has been rated as the Golden Tweet of the year.
The tweet, which stated “Shame on people for trolling @AnushkaSharma non-stop. Have some compassion. She has always only given me positivity”, had over 39,000 retweets and Twitterattis lauded the swashbuckling batsman for supporting the Bollywood actress.

The tweet had gone viral not just in Twitter but also on Facebook where screenshots of the tweet had been posted. In Twitter alone, the post had more than 107,000 likes.
Interestingly, the second tweet on the list is that of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi after he announced the demonitisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000.

Kohli also had a part to play in the sixth most influential moment on the list. As the report suggests, the most tweeted moment of the ICC World T20 tournament was when he scored the winning runs against Australia in the quarterfinal clash to take India to the last four.
