Delhi University has completed the undergraduate registration process but there is not a word about when admissions for the School of Open Learning will start.
SOL is a constituent of DU and every year admits over 1.4 lakh students in the undergraduate programme.
Earlier, the admission process for SOL used to begin a few days after the registration for regular colleges began and extended till late September.
The DU administration says the delay has not been from its end. It says it is awaiting a directive from the University Grants Commission’s Distance Education Board (DEB).
“All the distance learning schools were asked to submit an affidavit to the board. We submitted the details to UGC long time back. So the delay is not from our end. We are just waiting for a go-ahead from the UGC,” CS Dubey, director SOL said.
According to the official, the admission committee had already conducted its meeting and was ready with details of the admission schedule. Once they get the directive, they would start the process, he said.
The admission was supposed to begin on June 1, which was pushed to June 15. Even this deadline has passed.

{{/usCountry}}Students who have been a part of the system say the problem is because of the introduction of the semester system in regular colleges in 2010.
“Since in one university a dual system cannot work, every time during the admission process problems crop up and the university has to submit an affadavit,” said Subhash, a member of Krantikari Yuva Sangathan, a student body of SOL.
