The countdown has begun with barely a few weeks left for colleges to open. After spending days worrying about admissions and high cut-offs, dressing up for college and looking good is what is making students nervous these days. Here’s a guide for all the boys out there who are interested in dressing smart but not spending too much money on themselves.

A tour of Sarojini Nagar market and Janpath will help. The stuff there is cheap but looks good. However, you should remember that while it’s all very well to be dressed smartly, wrongly coordinated accessories can completely spoil the show.

And dressing well isn’t always easy when you’re a college kid on a shoestring budget. To begin with, make a mental note of how much you can spend and what you can spend on. Be wise and not foolish.

Choose sunglasses depending on the shape and size of your face. Black frames are the best and do avoid the pinks and the blues.

Flipflops go best with casual clothes, especially capris and are best suited for hostels after classes are over. If you like to wear jeans, go for sports shoes or sneakers to help you run around and get to classes easily.

Go for caps only if it is necessary. These go with the casual look, with capris or jeans. Don’t try and wear them if you opt for trousers. Shop for caps that don’t say too much.

Messages and logos on T-shirts and caps can sometimes offend others, so try and go for caps that enhance your style.

Pay attention to what suits you and your pocket. Save money, don’t waste it. It’s not always about the brand, the design and the make, it’s all about what looks good on you.
