Dinesh Singh, the outgoing vice-chancellor of Delhi University who has had a controversial stint in the office, has said he has no regrets over the decisions he took and does not want to continue even a day beyond his tenure.
In an interview to Hindustan Times, Singh - whose term ends on October 28 - said he “never felt like” resigning even after the fiasco over the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP) which was later rolled back by the University Grants Commission.
“I think its (FYUP implementation) time had not come and was not destined to be there,” Singh said.
The V-C, however, refused to comment about the new Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) which is being compared to the FYUP.
He also candidly admitted he has no regrets about any decision that he took while in office.
“Everything and every experience adds value to one’s life. If one has taken the responsibility as the vice-chancellor of a university then you better learn to cope with it,” he added.
However, he also categorically denied there was any political or governmental interference in the working of the varsity.

“I am bound by my words to my wife and on a personal level also I did not want to stay. Also the statutory provision of the university does not allow me to do so,” he said.
Talking about his plans after he leaves DU, Singh said he would like to spend some time with his wife and children and travel.
“About all other things I have no feelings now. Now, I want to write a book which would be about my views on the education system on a global level,” he added.
