The faculty member, however, said the posters could be the handiwork of vested interests.

The university dismissed the allegations as false and baseless.

Visva-Bharati public relations officer Atig Ghosh said on Friday that the university would not comment on "anonymous and baseless posters", as they did not carry the names or details of those responsible for putting them up.

The veracity of the posters and the identity of those behind the move could not be independently verified.
