Some of those would be a part of the college prospectus. In case your institution holds an orientation session, do make it a point to attend it. You may gather information that may otherwise not be easily available in one place. Library rules and timings, various societies and their auditions and the various members of the teaching faculty and the non-teaching staff are some of the things that you will get a capsule introduction to.
Ragging is strictly prohibited and every college has an anti-ragging squad in place. In case of an unpleasant experience, do contact the college administration. However, it’s very important to get in touch with your seniors. They are the ones who’ll be able to guide you through the maze of college life. From assignments to attendance to courses, you should select how to crack the exams; they will be your faithful friends through it all. The office, of course, is always there to inform you about the technicalities.
Having been spoon-fed through school life, the atmosphere in a college can frighten even the lion-hearted. The essential difference between schools and colleges is that the former treat you as children who need constant guidance whereas the latter treat you as adults capable of taking decisions on your own. Even when counselled by teachers and professional counsellors, there is an underlying belief that college students will take decisions on their own and be responsible for them.
