Republican Party Of India's candidate S.Rajendran grabbed the third spot with 20,393 votes. The top three parties got 51.6%, 22.0% and 14.8% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Bharatiya Janata Party's Ramakka .Y beat Janata Dal (Secular)'s M. Backthavachalam by 26,022 votes.
