Indian National Congress's N A Haris won the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's K Vasudevamurthy by a margin of 18,205 votes.
The top three candidates split 96.1% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's N A Haris got a total of 60,009 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's K Vasudevamurthy secured 41,804 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate N R Sridhar Reddy grabbed the third spot with 13,569 votes. The top three parties got 50.0%, 34.8% and 11.3% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's N.A.Haris defeated Janata Dal (Secular)'s K. Vasudeva Murthy by 20,187 votes.
