In the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Sayajigunj constituency had 6 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 99 seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Sayajigunj was one of them. The election for Sayajigunj seat was comfortably won by Bharatiya Janata Party's Jitendra Ratilal Sukhadia (JITUBHAI) defeating Indian National Congress's Narendra Ravat by a huge margin of 59,132 votes.
99.3% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Rashtriya Samaj Paksha's candidate Rajesh Ayare bagged 40,665 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 54.7%, 22.3% and 22.3% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Sukhadiya Jitendra Ratilal Sukhadiya outperformed Indian National Congress's Joshi Kiritbhai Shantilal by 58,237 votes.
