In the 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election, there were 5 candidates in the fray from Dharampur constituency. Dharampur was one of 99 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Arvind Chhotubhai Patel won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Ishvarbhai Dhedabhai Patel by a margin of 22,246 votes.
The top two candidates split 96.5% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Arvind Chhotubhai Patel got a total of 94,944 votes, while Indian National Congress's Ishvarbhai Dhedabhai Patel secured 72,698 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Patel Laxmanbhai Chunilal secured 2,572 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 54.7%, 41.9% and 1.5% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Patel Ishwarbhai Dhedabhai outperformed Bharatiya Janata Party's Chaudhari Sumitraben Batukbhai by 15,298 votes.
