Every time Bipasha Basu steps out with her male friends or a co-actor, stories of her link-ups start doing rounds. But the 35-year-old actor says she has become immune to rumours.
“I have grown a very thick skin because of these strange stories. Before a film releases, co-stars are typically linked. This is because of their PR machinery, or if they are spotted together or working out or hanging out together,”
says, adding that she often wonders why she is always the subject of these reports. “Two days ago, I was linked with Rana (Daggubati, actor) because I went for his birthday party. There were (actors) Nargis Fakhri and Alia Bhatt too, but no one wants to link them up, why me!”
Adds Bips, “I have conducted my relationships with a lot of respect. The number one priority for me is my life itself, that is, my relationship with my family and the one I love, and secondly my work.”
Asked about the latest buzz that suggests she may be the reason behind her latest co-star Karan Singh Grover’s separation from wife Jennifer Winget, Bips says, “I wish people give me that respect and not make up such stories. When we started shooting, everyone on the set knew that there were issues between Karan and his wife, and that was long ago. If people drag me into the discussion now, I will not be quiet and entertain this nonsense.”

The actor feels that people often forget that celebrities, too, have feelings. “People just forget that we are human beings. When two people are together, it is because of what they feel, and they separate also because of what they feel. No one would know what goes wrong. Unfortunately, speculative stories and nasty tales take over. I would expect some respect,” she says.
