Child actors are forever in the news. If not for their talent, then for constant controversies. Things, however, seem to be different for this budding actor. Eleven-year-old Ahsaas Channa started off with a little bit of a gender crisis. Channa, till RGV gave her a fresh lease of life in cinema, played a boy in all her previous endeavours.First, as Sushmita Sen’s son in Vaastu Shastra and then as SRK’s soccer loving brat in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.
Boy or girlSurviving a legal tussle between her parents over her ‘wrong’ portrayal, as a boy, the actor is now playing all girl. “My mother and I both agree that I will now only play a girl. I’ve grown up and I know what kind of acting I want to do,” says the very mature Channa.
The girl is now the star of RGV’s colossal spook show, Phoonk 2 (the prequel of which bombed at the box office, Phoonk). This time, however, the real ghost is Channa in this black-magic driven horror flick. “I like horror movies. Earlier, I was scared of even watching Scary Movie, but now I don’t mind. I actually enjoy doing horror movies,” admits Channa.
Bollywood bandwagonThe actor has her sight set on Bollywood and is grooming herself to join the league of the ace stars in tinsel town. When it comes to role models, she says she wants to be just like Preity Zinta. “I want to be like her because she is well-mannered, cute and a good actress,” smiles the actor.
The young tween seems to have finally outgrown her tomboy phase. “I want to be the best performer in Bollywood. I do think that I have the talent for it and everyone tells me that I will be famous,” she giggles.

{{/usCountry}}Being famousHer wish list is obviously the Khan brigade for now, but she won’t mind working with Hrithik Roshan either. “He is a very good-looking actor and is very focused,” she says. For a girl, whose parents put her in the eye of the storm while she was still playing a boy, she’s truly come a long way. “I have short hair, so when I was younger, it was very easy for me to pretend to be a boy,” Channa says, who is oblivious to the fact that Sanjay Gupta’s White Feather Films had announced a plan to produce a film on the controversy surrounding Ahsaas’ identity, but dropped the idea later. “I don’t think that has happened,” she signs off.
