Speculation is rife that Laxman was so depressed after the humiliation meted out to him on Imagine’s chat show, Rakhi Ka Insaaf by host Rakhi Sawant, that he died prematurely.
The 25-year-old Jhansi resident who was defending his case against wife Anita, was called namard (impotent) by Sawant. He returned home really low and stopped eating. He was admitted to the Jhansi Medical College Hospital on November 9 and died two days later.
Imagine’s spokesperson insists that Laxman had come back home drunk and fallen sick after which he was admitted to hospital: "No case of suicide has been registered by the local police or the hospital. His body was released to the family and cremated the same day."
His family, however, plans to move court against the show that claims to deliver justice. Laxman, they say, was hoping to resolve differences with Anita whom he had married this year on February 19. The police say they will act if a complaint is registered.
The channel has expressed their condolences but insists that the show will complete its 26-episode run: “The doctor’s report indicates that Laxman had TB and died after he contracted pneumonia. His death cannot be linked to our show.”
