Sisters Saba, Soha on Saif

In their first ever interview together, sisters Saba and Soha Ali Khan talk about each other as well as brother Saif Ali Khan.

They may “beg to differ” with each other in almost every sentence they utter, but the sisterly love between Saba and Soha Ali Khan is evident from the word go. Recently in the Capital for the launch of the jewellery store Opulence, for which Saba has designed a collection that Soha will be showcasing on the ramp, HT City caught up with Saif Ali Khan’s two sisters for a quick tête-à-tête.

Family first
Their respective professions may have kept them apart, but Saba says all three of them — her, Soha and Saif — do their best to keep in touch. “We three are fiercely independent, but we do keep in touch. We are just a phone call or an SMS away. We all look forward to meeting each other.” Recalling their childhood, Soha says, “I remember my childhood in Delhi, but don’t remember much of Mumbai. You see I was four and Saba was six when we moved to Delhi.” Saba interrupts to correct her, “Soha you were seven and I was nine when we moved to Delhi. She doesn’t remember much.”

Having studied in Delhi for most part, Soha recalls their time as kids together. “We shared a room when we were young. We had a line that divided my side from Saba’s. If either of us crossed it, that person wouldn’t have been alive. I was quite a spoilt child. Whatever Saba had, I wanted. So my mother bought everything in pairs — from dresses to toothbrushes. Also, Saba had this quality of saving. I, however, would just eat all that I had… I even stole her chocolates from fridge once.” Saba instantly adds, “Oh yes, I had saved two chocolates in the fridge, but later on I couldn’t find any.”
