International magnum opus Harry Potter focused on winter fashion, not so suitable for Mumbai’s balmy climate. But if you want to create your own interpretation of Hermione Granger’s heavy jackets, designer Rahul Mishra has an option: “This season I showed

jackets styled like classic trenchcoats and the response has been phenomenal.” Mishra admits that a little cheating was all that was necessary to get yourself a winter wardrobe. “We didn’t have appropriate clothes for our version of winter. But jackets in light cotton or silk weaves can replace the heavier varieties worn abroad.”

Another predominant feature in the movie is Granger’s tiny embroidered bag, which follows trends set by major fashion houses like Celine and Chloe, reducing the oversized tote bag to a more practical shape and size.

, styling Hrithik Roshan in rose-coloured glasses from the hippie era of the ’70s, and created decadent, floor-sweeping garments for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character. He mentions, “The glasses were dark humour, that a guy who has nothing to look forward to is wearing rose-tinted glasses. The clothes are also influenced by the Portuguese character that Goa has, which is where the movie is set.”
