A vintage, Victorian-style wall clock adorns the entryway to actor Prachi Desai’s spacious Andheri home. With white as a constant theme through the tasteful, minimalistic apartment, it is no surprise when the actor confesses her obsession with the shade. Her closet holds an enviable collection of shoes, arranged neatly by heel size. In a dainty lace top and a pair of distressed denims, the actor talks passionately about her sense of style.
Closet staples: “If it’s white, I must have it. And I love ripped jeans. They are so versatile — you can pair them with formal tops, pretty blouses, and even slightly traditional accessories.”
Shopping destinations: “I shop every time I travel. I think the culture of different cities can add a different dimension to your wardrobe. So, if I’m picking up the girly, cute stuff from places like Hong Kong and Singapore, I’ll also go through stores at places like Oxford Street in London, or Greenwich Village in New York for vintage outfits.”
Go-to brands: “For understated, laid-back casuals, Pull and Bear is great. Most of my favourite footwear ends up being from Jessica Simpson’s line. The variety is unbelievable and every shoe is unique. I’ve unintentionally ended up with a lot of Jessica Simpson shoes.”
Obsessed with make-up: “I enjoy collecting make-up products, even though I believe less is more on your face. I pick up a lot of perfumes and make-up from airports when I travel. I own products that haven’t even come out of the box, but I buy it simply because I feel like the stock will run out if I don’t buy it immediately. I’m the kind of person who gets sleepless nights because I saw something that I didn’t get to buy. I won’t rest till I can get my hands on it.”

Style icons: “I love both modern and classic styles. I admire Irina Shayk (Russian model), and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (English model). I’m a big fan of how timeless and classically elegant Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn were. In fact, a friend got me an Audrey Hepburn handbag because she knew she just had to get it for me when she saw it. Kangana Ranaut is stunning; I’d definitely want to raid her closet.”
Watch it: “I love watches. My double-wrap Michael Kors watch is a favourite. It’s not a girly watch but is edgy and sets any outfit apart.”
