With the wedding season just around the corner, we know that all eyes are going to be on what the bride wears. But it shouldn’t mean bridesmaids go unnoticed.

Indian weddings boast a variety of ceremonies, which means people can flaunt several fun outfits. But with so many options, it may get hard to pick a chic and trendy look. Designer Pria Kataaria Puri helps us out. “The idea is to have fun with your outfit. Opt for blouses, as that’s the current trend. The skirt should be flattering and slimming, with a flare at the bottom. It can be westernised with Chantilly lace, or you can go for a fusion look by opting for a western style in Kanjeevaram silk. Maang tikkas with earrings should suffice for accessories,” she says.

Those who would like to stick to traditional outfits can don the all-time favourite — Kanjeevaram silk saris. “Kanjeevaram silk is beautiful and rich. It is the trend right now,” says Kataaria Puri.

Traditional twist

You can play with the drape of your sari for a chic style. Soft shades like off-white or red with a traditional gold brocade border look beautiful, just like Aditi Rao Hydari’s ensemble.

True blue

An off-shoulder blouse teamed with a skirt-like lehenga would be a great outfit to flaunt at wedding receptions.

Shimmer

A kaftan inspired maxi dress with exotic prints or hand embroidery is ideal for a beach wedding. Pick something that looks rich and has embellishments, Chantilly lace and tassels.

Get floored

This floor-length red jacket, hand-embroidered with thread work and sequins, is ideal for those who love to dance in the baraat.

Ready-to-wear

Go for this pre-stitched sari with traditional motifs. You can also opt for saris in brocade, with traditional motifs like leaves, paisley and handloom weaves.
