From American model Gigi Hadid to Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, fashion forward celebs across the world are rocking fun and funky fashion patches

Who says patches are just meant to fix up holes in your worn out jeans? The 90’s favourite trend has made a comeback this season. We spotted actors Kangana Ranaut, Esha Gupta, Anushka Sharma and filmmaker Karan Johar rocking fun patches. The trend is a global hit, with stylistas such as model Gigi Hadid and singer Rihanna rocking fashion patches.

Filmmaker Karan Johar recently wore a jacket with embroidered patches.

Designer Anupama Dayal says patches add personality to your clothes. “It’s a fun trend. It is evocative of different experiences. By wearing personalised patches on your sleeves, you feel connected to different cultures while showcasing your individuality. The trend is here to stay,” says Dayal.

Actor Anushka Sharma was spotted at Mumbai airport wearing denim with embroidered patches.

For those who love a touch of desi, options abound in Delhi’s flea markets. “Our patches from Kutch, Gujarat are a big hit. Young people are getting these patches stitched on their jeans. Depending on the size and detailing, they cost between `250 and `900,” says Ranjana who sells embroidered fashion patches at Janpath.
