Flea markets woo buyers with interesting offers

From giving out free scarves with T-shirts to kalires with envelopes, small-time shopkeepers in the Capital have come up with interesting offers to get shoppers on board in these times of cash crunch.

With an effort to fight the woes of demonetisation, shops in Delhi’s flea markets have come up with enticing deals and discounts.

“This used to be the peak time for our sales but look at the market now, there is no one around. To sell the stock, we have come up with several offers. You can buy anything from our shop at Rs 100 only,” says Mahesh, a shopkeeper at Janpath Market.

Similarly, the shopkeepers of Sarojini Nagar Market are putting up exciting offers to attract customers. “People hardly have cash and to sell our summer stock, we are giving one scarf free with a T-shirt,” says Ram Kumar, a Sarojini Nagar shopkeeper.

A shopkeeper at Chawri Bazar, who does not wish to be named, says, “We are facing the worst time in 40 years. To get business, we are giving a discount to those getting the cards printed.”
