Girls are getting inked with Taapsee Pannu’s tattoo from Pink

The latest trend in the city has stylistas queuing up at salons to get a row of birds tattooed on their collar bone, just like the actor in her latest film

It’s not just the hard-hitting story of the movie Pink that has struck a chord with the audience. The film has sparked a tattoo trend in the city. Fashionsitas in the city are queuing up at tattoo salons to get a row of birds tattooed on their collar bone, just like the ones actor Taapsee Pannu is seen rocking in the film. “I’m sure the film has to play a role in popularising the tattoo again, as Bollywood is a big inspiration for fashionistas. I am getting a lot of customers who want dainty bird tattooed on their collar bone.” validates Kachan Mehra, makeup artist and tattoo expert.

Taapsee says she never thought that her tattoo will spark a trend. “The tattoo showed four different stages of a bird when she opens her wings to fly. It was intentional because my character was that of a free spirited girl living life on her own terms. It was a representation of who I am. This tattoo was an easy way to tell the audience what the character is going to be like in the film. I think it has become popular because people could relate with the character. ” she says.

“The bird tattoo symbolises liberation and freedom. It is the perfect pick for independent, modern women in the city,” says tattoo artist Max of Inkinn Tattoo Studio, who is getting requests for similar tattoos.

Vikas Milani, tattoo artist at Bodycanvas Delhi Tattoos & Piercings says it’s an ideal for those who want a minimalist, subtle design. “It’s a very simple tattoo, and it’s perfect for those who don’t want to waste a lot of time in getting it made,” he says.

However, experts caution that it could be a painful deal. “Tattoo on bony areas such as ankles and collar bones are more painful. Also, your neck is craned while getting one done, which could make it a little uncomfortable ,” says TJ, tattoo artist at Devilz Tattoo.
