How to wear short dress with sneakers a la celebrity way

Pairing cutesy and chic dresses with comfortable footwear is the new cool for active fashionistas.

Who says that an LBD (little black dress) or a sexy, short dress can look good only when teamed with heels? That, too, the towering ones that most women find it difficult to walk around in? Ditch heels a la Bollywood actors Kriti Sanon and Shilpa Shetty Kundra among others, who are making a case for active footwear, be it running shoes, sneakers or trainers. And, giving the comfy feet brigade a thumbs-up are our fashion experts.

“Talk about comfort, and sneakers are a saviour. They look chic; I personally prefer sneakers with dresses,” says designer Rina Dhaka.

“Sneakers are [everywhere] these days — teamed with denims, palazzos, pantsuits and even saris. While nothing can beat the hotness of heels, sneakers have found a friend in short dresses, too,” adds designer Anvita Sharma.

But remember, there are some dos and don’ts here. “Experiment with prints and colours. For example, you can wear polka dotted sneakers with a striped dress,” says stylist Sahil Gulati. “But never make the mistake of wearing ankle length sneakers with a short dress. A sheath dress can be teamed with trainers, and a frilly one will look good with sneakers,” adds Gulati.
