Bank of Baroda has acquired semi-naming rights for the Sikanderpur station

Sikanderpur metro station has been rechristened Bank of Baroda Sikanderpur station, after the bank acquired semi-naming rights for the station. This is the fourth DMRC metro station to be renamed in the city.

Sikandarpur metro station on the Samaypur Badli- Huda City Centre (yellow) line is the only interchange station which directly connects to the Rapid Metro.

The station has a footfall of around 50,000 commuters per day.

“Acquiring semi-naming rights is a recent concept in India for branding purposes,” said BB Joshi, executive director, Bank of Baroda.

“We are happy to announce that Bank of Baroda, maintaining its long-standing tradition of being the pioneer in various initiatives, will again be the first public sector bank to foray into such a unique branding venture,” he added.

“Bank of Baroda Sikanderpur will be one of the biggest brand-building platforms for the bank,” Joshi said.

Earlier, the names of Huda City Centre metro, MG Road metro and Guru Dronacharya metro stations were changed by adding the names of high-profile companies like Shalimar, Syska LED and Indigo airlines respectively, as prefixes to the existing names.

The names have been auctioned by DMRC, in both Noida and Gurgaon, to generate revenue in the absence of frequent fare revisions.

Over 17 stations including the five in the city were circled for the bids for a period of over 10 years.

“The companies which offered the highest bid were given the advertorial rights of the stations. It has been given for a period of ten years. All the other rights including the maintenance are with DMRC,” said an official spokesperson of DMRC.
