Haryana’s culture adorns Gurgaon walls for Golden Jubilee celebrations

As the state of Haryana waits to celebrate its Golden Jubilee, a group of artists have painted the walls surrounding Tau Devi Lal Stadium where the ceremony will be held on November 1. The street art showcases the progress the state has experienced in the past 50 years

It’s going to be a colourful celebration of 50 years for Haryana, as creative and unique street art adorns the walls of Tau Devi Lal Stadium where the state will ring in the Golden Jubilee festivities starting November 1. The art represents an interesting blend of urban and rural Haryana.

Sixteen artists have painted walls adjoining Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurgaon to ring in Haryana’s Golden Jubilee celebrations on November 1.

Along with a wall dedicated to Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,you can expect to see a wall of fame which includes paintings of wrestler Sakshi Malik, and comedian Sunil Grover among others, who have brought glory and fame to the state.

The city’s streets have been splashed with innovative designs previously as well during Happening Haryana Global investors Summit in March. The initiative that was supported by joint commissioner, MCG Rohit Yadav saw a team of 16 artists work round the clock last seven days to paint the walls on the theme of Haryana. The celebrations will also see Prime Minister Narendra Modi grace the occasion along with other dignitaries.

The artists painted a wall of fame of Haryana with caricatures of Indo American astronaut Kalpana Chawla, actor Randeep Hooda, wrestler Sakshi Malik and Vijender Singh, cricketer Virender Sehwag, comedian Sunil Grover among others

Giving the celebrations a unique touch, Mor says, “We created an illustration of Bhagavad Gita where lord Krishna is seen speaking to Arjun and also included verses from the same too,” adds Mor.

While the walls being used as a urinal are a major concern Mor says, “The walls were being used as a urinal even before we started.We have spoken to the Joint commissioner on the issue and hope it is rectified and the beauty of the artwork remains intact.”
