It’s easy to forget to take care of your teeth unless they start giving you sleepless nights. Even little things like not spending too much time brushing and avoiding carbonated drinks can go a long way in ensuring dental care in winters, says an expert.
Sagrika Shukla, a visiting consultant at Clove Dental, says that teeth need extra care in winters just like the rest of the body. Here, she shares what you can do to maintain dental health.
* Not more than 2-3 minutes
It’s good to brush your teeth properly but do not get carried away. ADA (American Dental Association) recommends brushing for not more than two-three minutes. Over brushing your teeth can cause sensitivity.
* No to carbonated drinks

{{/usCountry}}We all are a little hungrier in winters, but choose hot beverages over acidic carbonated drinks which tend to erode teeth and lead to sensitivity.
* Warm salt water to the rescue
Sipping on cider? Or enjoying spicy treats? Canker sores can actually set in and ruin your fun. If you’re already suffering, try swishing your mouth with warm salt water. It helps clean the sores and ensures faster healing.
* Keep tab on sweet intake
We are all at our glutenous best in winters. But do try to cut down on your sugar intake as a lot of sweet combined with poor water intake increases the chances of developing cavities, especially in winter.
