Avengers: Infinity War star Benedict Cumberbatch expressed his desire to play Doctor Strange in future Marvel movies, despite the character seemingly dying at the end of the film.
The 41-year-old actor said that given the ending of Infinity War, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is in a better position to reveal if his character will be seen in the next yet-to-be titled Avengers film or stand-alones, Deadline reported.
“Oh, Strange? Just try to stop me. That’s all kinds of lined up as far as I’m aware, but who knows? I mean, you know, the problem is, how does he get out of where he’s at. But that’s the only thing. I’m bits of dust at the moment as far as I understand.
“So you really have to ask Kevin Feige. But as far as wanting to do it, yeah, I would love to go back into that role,” Cumberbatch said when asked if he would like to keep playing the character.
Doctor Strange and several other Avengers died at the end of Infinity War, succumbing to the power of the villainous Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet. Based on rumours and set pictures from the fourth Avengers film, due out in 2019, the remaining Avengers will team up and try to rescue their fallen comrades with the aid of the Infinity Stones - the Time Stone, Reality Stone and Soul Stone.
