The first look at Emma Stone and Steve Carell in Battle of the Sexes has arrived and the Birdman and Foxcatcher actors look almost unrecognisable as former tennis great Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs.

The film depicts the infamous rivalry between tennis players Riggs and King in 1973. 55-year-old Riggs came out of his retirement to challenge 29-year-old King, who was ranked the No. 2 female tennis player at the time, in a game later known as The Battle of the Sexes.

Little Miss Sunshine filmmakers Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are directing the movie with a script penned by Slumdog Millionaire’s Simon Beaufoy.
Danny Boyle serves as one of the producers. Sarah Silverman and Alan Cumming are also among the cast members.

{{/usCountry}}A rival movie called Match Maker starring Will Ferrell is also in the works. On the small screen, HBO is developing an untitled Battle of the Sexes project with Paul Giamatti and Elizabeth Banks set to play the two central characters and Tom Hanks to produce.
