The Man In The Maze, toplining Australian beauty queen Liana Werner-Gray, will release in India before opening in American cinema halls.
NRI Mitesh Kumar Patel, who is helming the venture, confirms the news and says, “It’s really not important where and how I release my movie first.
The most important thing is that everyone should love the film. And what I am most bothered about is that it should get a proper release in India as well as the US.
The Indian American filmmaker, who is based in America, is also the scriptwriter and the producer of the Hollywood movie.
He says the film will be released in Hindi and in English languages.
“Whoever loves watching horror movies, suspense or action, or a combination of these will enjoy The Man In The Maze. It has a very universal storyline,” he insists.
The film took two years in production. But Patel is undeterred: “It’s my first film in India. And I am excited and anxious to see how it’s received in India. The film has already received a great response at various film festivals.”
He also says that it would be easier for him to plan and execute his production’s American release, as compared to India, since he knows the market very well.

“That’s celebrated sometime towards the end of October. And since Halloween is a big occasion there, plus my film has eerie elements in plenty, so, as a producer and director, it makes perfect to release it in US markets at that time,” says the entrepreneur-turned-filmmaker, who was born in a village called Kherva near Vadodara.
The Man in the Maze revolves around four college students on a field trip to learn more about the American-Indian Trail Of Tears.
While traipsing through the woods, however, they stumble upon an Indian burial mound that marks the burial site of a Native American family that died on the trail.
A distraught family member cursed the mound, and whoever disturbs it unleashes trouble and winds up lost in a maze, terrorised by an unknown force.
“Trail Of Tears is part of American history. The film is based on this 150-year-old idea. We had to work really hard to recreate that era. But I am really happy with the final results,” exults Patel, who is also busy with two more film projects at the moment, Aaryamaan and Cosmic-Man.
“I’m trying to work out my new ventures with Bollywood filmmakers. I’ve had a few meetings too. Let’s see how things work out.”
