Actor John Abraham had to publicly apologise to grandfather of Sugandha Mishra — a contestant in Zee TV's music reality show, Sa Re Ga Ma PaSinging Superstar, as his kiss with Mishra upset her grandfather.
One may recall that John had kissed the contestant during his appearance on the show with music composer AR Rahman, for the promotion of his new film Jhootha Hi Sahi, last month. Her grandfather disapproved of the star’s public display of affection.
"John is my favourite actor and I had confessed on the show that I had a crush on him. He kissed me after my performance, as a mark of appreciation and as a sweet gesture. It was a great moment. But the news channels sensationalised the matter by saying things like Sugandha hai Bipasha Ki Sautan and all that," says Sugandha.
She adds, "I live in a joint family in Jalandhar, and my grandfather, who didn't know who John, is really upset with all that. He even told my parents to get me back from the show. But my parents convinced him that there was nothing to worry about."
Interestingly, when John once again attended the sets as a guest, he apologised for his act on television. Sugandha is pleased with this act. "John is so sweet. He apologised to me and even asked me if things were ok at home. But then, he in the masti mode again, proposed to me, saying, ‘Shaadi karogi mujhse?’ I’m upset again ... it may create unnecessary controversy for the second time.
