Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn says he turned down the opportunity to direct the last James Bond movie Spectre.

Refn was apparently also offered films like Wonder Woman and Barbarella remake but he turned them down.

The film, which saw director Sam Mendes returning to helm his second 007 movie, grossed $880 million worldwide and won the Oscar for best song.

The 45-year-old director of films like Drive and Bronson said he prefers to do small films like The Neon Demon, which released this week in the US instead of taking the reins of a world-renowned franchise.

Refn was apparently also offered films like Wonder Woman and Barbarella remake but he turned them down.
