The role of Lara Croft is going from one Oscar-winning actress to another. Alicia Vikander, who won the big trophy this year for The Danish Girl will be taking over from Angelina Jolie who played the badass heroine in 2001 (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider) and again in 2003 (Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life).
Vikander has signed on to play the role of Lara Croft in a new Tomb Raider movie from Norwegian director Roar Uthaug. MGM, Warner Bros. and GK Films announced the news on Thursday.

Jolie was the first to bring the popular video game character to life on the big screen. Both the films, however, were poorly received by critics, but the first was a big box office success.
