Being Thor isn’t easy. Chris Hemsworth had to eat 16 meals a day when he trained for his Avengers character.

The 32-year-old actor recently revealed that as he’s getting older his preparations to play the hammer-wielding superhero are becoming more extreme as he can’t withstand the rigours of training the way he used to, reports News24.com.

Hemsworth said that when he is in the normal weight range it’s fine and he enjoys training, but for Thor, everything is to the extreme.

He added that he eats 16 meals a day and lifts as heavy as he can, but over the years a person’s shoulders can’t lift what it once could.

The actor lived on just 500 calories a day to play a starving seafarer in In the Heart of the Sea and he admitted it made him feel like s#!t and he was constantly moody and agitated.
