At least nine people were killed and over 40 others injured when a container truck rammed into a tractor trolley carrying around 60 to 61 pilgrims in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr in the early hours of Monday, news agency ANI reported, quoting police.
UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a financial compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the severely injured people.
"Nine people have died in the collision between a trolley and a tanker this morning. Ten people were referred to Aligarh, while two patients are in critical condition. The injured people are being properly treated and are being discharged upon treatment," DM Shruti told ANI.
The accident took place around 2.15 am on the Bulandshahr-Aligarh border near the Arnia bypass, when the canter truck hit the tractor-trolley from behind, causing it to overturn

{{/usCountry}}Visuals from the site show the tractor badly crushed and the front of the container heavily damaged. The tractor was carrying devotees of Gogaji (also referred to as Jahirpeer, Jaharveer Chauhan, or Bagad Wala, he is a folk Hindu deity worshipped in northern India), who were travelling from Kasganj to Gogamedi in Rajasthan, when the accident occurred near Ghatal village on National Highway 34 under Bulandshahr police station limits.
Police further said 10 passengers sustained only minor injuries, while the rest were taken to different hospitals for treatment — 10 to Aligarh Medical College, 10 to Bulandshahr District Hospital, and 23 to Kailash Hospital in Khurja.
The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem.Eight of the nine deceased have been identified as tractor driver E U Babu (40), Rambeti (65), Chandni (12), Ghaniram (40), Mokshi (40), Shivansh (6), Yogesh (50), and Vinod (45) — all residents of Kasganj district, police said.
Among the 43 injured, 12 are children, according to PTI.
Police added that the truck involved in the crash, registered in Haryana, has been seized, and legal proceedings are underway.
