The Bollywood actor and former Trinamool Rajya Sabha member is learnt to have spent an hour at the RSS headquarters and then visited the Hedgewar memorial.
In a development which will make heads turn in this election season, Bollywood actor and former Trinamool Rajya Sabha member Mithun Chakraborty met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat and other senior functionaries of the organisation in Nagpur on Thursday. Chakraborty also had breakfast with the RSS chief.
RSS sources said Chakraborty, whose name figured in the Saradha chit fund scam, landed in Nagpur from Mumbai Thursday morning. His meeting the RSS chief, which was termed as a ‘courtesy visit’ by Prasad Mahankar, Vidarbha Pracharak of the organization, seems like it has a political tinge to it – especially at a time when most of the top opposition leaders in Bengal are facing ED or CBI probe in one case or another.
The Bollywood actor is learnt to have spent an hour at the RSS headquarters and then visited the Hedgewar memorial. He was accompanied by Mahankar.
Chakraborty, who was once associated with the Maoist movement in Bengal, later earned fame as an accomplished actor after he debuted in the Mrinal Sen’s award winning movie ‘Mrigayaa’.
