Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi on Wednesday extended her support to the family of 20-year-old Anjali who was hit by a grey Baleno and dragged for 12 kilometres on January 1 in Delhi's Sultanpuri. Without alleging anyone, Asha Devi dismissed the statement given by Anjali's friend Nidhi. She further requested authorities to investigate the case and support the family financially.

“I request authorities to investigate the case & support family financially. Job should be given to the family member as soon as possible. I do not put allegations on anyone but I do not support what that girl (Nidhi) has said in her statement,” She was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Nidhi was seen riding with Anjali as a pillion on the scooty moments before they were hit by the car. After tracking CCTV footages, police ascertained that Nidhi was there with Anjali. In her statement, she alleged that Anjali insisted on riding the two-wheeler despite being in “drunken state”. She added that the driver kept on driving even after Anjali was screaming.

{{/usCountry}}Anjali's mother rejected Nidhi's claims and said she has “never seen her”. “I don't know Nidhi, I have never seen her. Anjali never used to drink, she never came home in an inebriated state, and we don't believe whatever claims Nidhi made,” she told reporters.
