Rahul Gandhi was on his way to Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur to meet protesting farmers but was delayed by Congress workers

When Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi left Delhi on Thursday morning, he was in a hurry to get to Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur that has been scorched by farmer protests and the death of five people in police firing.

But he had to wait for 20 minutes after he landed in Udaipur before getting on the road to the MP town. The reason: Hundreds of local Congress leaders who mobbed him to take a selfie.

As soon as Gandhi arrived at the airport, hundreds of Congress workers reached to welcome him. Soon party workers got exited and started taking selfies with Gandhi.

Minutes later, a huge mob created chaos inside the building, forcing police to resort to mild caning to control the situation.

Gandhi and other leaders have been denied permission to enter Mandsaur that has been rocked by violence and the death of the five farmers, but is determined to meet the families of the deceased.

The Congress is trying to wrest the farm votebank from the BJP that has ruled the state for 14 years.
