In less than 24 hours after an Irish woman was found murdered in Canacona area of south Goa, police claimed to have cracked the case with the arrest of history-sheeter Vikas Bhagat.

“After investigation and interrogation, we arrested and booked Vikas Bhagat. He has confessed to raping the victim and later killing her,” deputy superintendent of police Sammy Tavares said.
According to the police, the 25-year-old victim came with a friend to participate in Holi celebrations in coastal Canacona village, known for its popular beach Palolem. She was found dead on Tuesday. Suspecting rape, police had sent the body to Goa Medical College near Panaji for postmortem. The report is still awaited.
“The body was lying in a pool of blood without clothes and there were injuries on the head and face,” Tavares said.
Though Bhagat has confessed to rape and murder, cops are trying to find out if any other person was also involved in the case.
