Karnataka elections: Ex-deputy CM injured in stone pelting during roadshow

The incident took place at Byrenahalli area of Koratagere taluk when Parameshwara was campaigning for the upcoming assembly elections.

Former Karnataka deputy chief minister and Koratagere Congress leader G Parameshwara sustained head injuries after a stone was pelted at him during a road show in Tumakuru district on Friday, people familiar with the matter said.

The incident took place at Byrenahalli area of Koratagere taluk when Parameshwara was campaigning for the upcoming assembly elections in the state and unidentified person pelted a stone at him, one of the people quoted above said.

Parameshwara, who was bleeding from the head was given primary treatment at the Akkirampur primary health centre and later shifted to Siddhartha Medical College Hospital in Tumakuru, said the people.

He is the incumbent Congress MLA from the Koratagere assembly constituency.

Earlier on April 19, stones were pelted at Parameshwara when he was about to file his nomination papers from Koratagere constituency. However, the Congress leader had escaped unhurt while a policewoman had suffered minor injuries during the incident.
