Four new tiger cubs were spotted along with its mother, T-19 at Rajasthan’s Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) in Sawai Madhopur district on Friday morning.
The cubs have been born to tigress T-19 daughter of India’s iconic big cat ‘Machhli’, which died in August last year.
Earlier this month, the camera traps at RTR recorded a cub with T-69 in Thumka area, a non-tourism zone, and a lone cub in Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary which is assumed to be of T-79, daughter of T-13. The tigresses have given birth for the first time. Last year, T-39 gave birth to three cubs.
Chief conservator of forest and field director, Ranthambore Tiger Project, Y K Sahu said, “Today (Friday), a tourist canter at around 8 am spotted T-19 along with her four cubs near Lakada area of Zone 4.”
“The tigress in the last three-four years has given birth to 11 cubs, of which one died. First time, she gave birth to three cubs, then four (one died) and now again four.”
He said the tigress earlier use to move around the lake area under zone-4, but was pushed by her daughter T-84 (Arrow Head). At present, she is moving in Lakada and Dedhda area of the reserve.

{{/usCountry}}Sahu said in the last two years, 11 tigresses have given birth to 22 cubs in RTR. With the new additions, Ranthambore now has 22-27 cubs, and 45-47 adult tigers, officials said.
