  In its latest forecast bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has maintained the red alert in Mumbai, and said it will continue until Sunday morning, while a fresh red alert has been sounded in Thane district.

  According to the weather bureau, Mumbai will continue to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated pockets over the next few days.

  Starting Sunday, Mumbai has been placed under an orange alert until at least Tuesday, following which a yellow alert has been issued for Wednesday.

  Chaya Vasant Makwana, who has been residing in the locality for 25 years, said, "We did not receive any notice from the authorities this time. We were sleeping in our home when suddenly, around 2.30 am, debris collapsed on one of the houses and a family was trapped."
