Deep Dive

How many voters were declared ineligible after Karnataka’s SIR hearings?

A total of 61,867 electors were declared ineligible after notices and hearings across Karnataka, about 1.4% of those who went through the process. Bengaluru accounted for 30,924 exclusions.

Which Bengaluru constituencies had the most SIR exclusions?

Bommanahalli had the highest number, with 4,136 electors marked ineligible. KR Pura recorded 3,081 exclusions, followed by Mahadevapura with 2,870.

Why were Form 7 applications generated during Karnataka’s SIR, and did filing one automatically delete a voter?

Officials said the system generated some forms when voters could not be contacted during hearings, including cases involving unmapped records or discrepancies. Filing a Form 7 did not automatically delete a name; exclusions followed the verification and hearing process.
